Ambercore Point Cloud Technology Featured at Autodesk University

Ottawa, Canada, Tuesday, December 29, 2009 – Ambercore is pleased to announce they were featured in a recent interview regarding their powerful point cloud technology that was incorporated into the latest releases of Autodesk’s AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2010 and AutoCAD® Map 3D 2010. The interview, with Ted Reeler, Ambercore’s Director of Projects and Technology, discusses the benefits Autodesk customers will experience from having the point cloud engine incorporated in these releases, such as the ability to read, store, index, and quickly retrieve extremely large point cloud data sets.

The interview also mentions Ambercore’s future plans for the point cloud technology to use the power of the Ambercore engine to extract detailed 3D and 4D data. For example, in point clouds collected from an aircraft or vehicle, the technology can automatically separate the ground surface from the features above the ground. It can also be configured to automatically identify and extract features like complex building structures, power lines, poles, and other distinct objects, and convert them into vector lines, symbols and CAD shells.

The interview was hosted by Autodesk at Autodesk University, a renowned user conference featuring classes, labs, and networking with Autodesk representatives and industry experts.
