Ottawa, Canada, April 30, 2008 – Ambercore Software Inc., a leading global provider of high performance spatial software and services for Energy and Mining industries, is announcing the delivery of in-situ heavy oil software to Nexen Inc., a global energy leader engaged in exploration, development, production, and marketing of crude oil, natural gas and power.
Ambercore has developed the software to be used by Nexen on the Long Lake Project in the Athabasca Oil Sands area in northern Alberta, Canada.
Ambercore’s software is an engineering based decision making support system for SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage). SAGD is a passive process where steam is injected continually using a horizontal well to form a steam chamber. Mobile bitumen is then gravity drained into a lower horizontal well and pumped to the surface.
