Terrapoint Project Manager
General: Terrapoint Canada has an immediate need for a Project Manager to work in the field. The Project Manager is responsible for the logistical coordination of full-cycle field survey operations. This position is also responsible for the preliminary pre-processing of GPS, LiDAR or other data from collection through to delivery to the Processing team.
Project Manager duties include:
- Responsible for managing full-cycle field operations to ensure the accurate collection of airborne LiDAR or other data.
- Planning and executing field activities.
- Assists the Operations Manager with project planning
- Works under the direction of the Operations Manager to coordinate all on-site aircraft logistics, local survey parties, pilots, air traffic control and other third parties as required to successfully complete flight missions.
- Daily reporting on the progress of each project
- Report system malfunctions and substandard data quality and work closely with the Engineering team to ensure systems are fully functional.
- Conduct safety meetings at the start of each project to review general safety and hazard assessments.
- Submit a final report upon project completion.
- Coach and mentor System Operators.
- Periodically required to work in the office to support the Operations Manager with various office duties.
Specific Requirements:
- An equivalent of a post-secondary two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or GIS surveying and/or a minimum of five year’s GIS survey related field experience. Experience in remote locations is an asset.
- Broad understanding of software systems and applications. This includes operating systems (MS Office, Linux), GPS survey and survey adjustment programs (GrafNAV/NET) and CAD packages (AutoCAD, ESRI and Microstation).
- Proficient at establishing control survey networks, analysis and adjustments.
- Competent at organizing and managing all facets of a full-cycle airborne LiDAR project.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and solid decision making skills with an inherent ability to multi-task.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey and discuss technical issues with the project team, customers and vendors.
- Overall understanding of aircraft logistics, surveying practices including GPS and LiDAR surveying, data processing and quality control.

Working Conditions
- Extensive field travel averaging 200 days per year with rotations up to 30 days (longer under certain circumstances when agreed upon with manager). During field days, a 24-hour on-call schedule is required.
- International and domestic travel and long distance driving in various climate conditions.
- Confined spaces, frequent motion and turbulence in small helicopter and/or fixed wing aircraft for up to six hours per day.
