Terrapoint Senior Data Analyst
General: The Senior Data Analyst directly assists the Production Manager to ensure the accurate and timely processing of LiDAR or other data from raw point cloud (or other format) to final deliverable.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities (Accountability Measures):
- Responsible for overseeing full-cycle LiDAR or other processing including responsibility for all data quality issues to ensure consistency and accuracy of the end product.
- Writes and executes macros and scripts for point cloud classification, lattice export, projection transformations and special output formats.
- Coordinates with Operations team to assess data quality and specifications.
- Liaise with clients to trouble-shoot deliverables, create custom tailored solutions and address requests for additional deliverable formats and/or supplementary data.
- Evaluate new software products and make recommendations to the Production Manager.
- Prepare weekly status reports for the Production Manager.
- Provide training and coordination to the Junior Data Analysts and Data Analysts on LiDAR editing and the generation of Value Added products.
- Occasionally required to travel to field locations to assist the Operations team with pre-processing.
Job Specifications:
- An equivalent of a post-secondary two-year technical diploma in GIS or a degree in Geography or related discipline and/or a minimum of two (2) year’s experience in the analysis of spatial data.
- Comprehensive understanding of software applications. This includes CAD packages (AutoCAD, ESRI and Microstation) and GIS applications (ArcView 3.x and ArcView 9.x).
- Strong aptitude for project planning, time management, resource allocation and decision-making.
- Technical knowledge of data flow and manipulation combined with a broad understanding of coordinate systems and data transformation.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, the Production Manager, team members and co-workers.
- Must work effectively in a team environment by coordinating each team member to ensure quality control and timely conclusion of client deliverables.
- Provide mentorship and direction to Junior Data Analysts.
- Actively participate in special projects as assigned by Production Manager and assume responsibility for continued learning and quality productivity improvement.
Working Conditions:
- Standard office environment with three, eight (8) hour per day shifts.
