Off-Road
There are many areas which require accurate surveys which are not accessible by a normal wheeled vehicle. These remote areas require 360 degree data for engineering, environmental and forestry projects.
An example of such an instance is the dry desert wash project. The site was adjacent to a small community and needed a detailed survey for flood volume analysis. It was inaccessible by normal vehicle but was easily mapped by TITAN mounted on an off-road vehicle. The contractor’s alternative approach was to use static scanning which would have taken approximately one week versus the one hour required for the TITAN collection.
Projects involving inaccessible and environmentally sensitive sites, such as forest inventory projects or archeological sites, are also a key opportunity to use TITAN as a solution. The system can collect detailed 3-D information on the type and structure of the vegetation and surface details without harming the environment. Any site with features of interest that can be reached by an off-road vehicle can be mapped using TITAN.

TITAN Variant recommended:
The TITAN Portable is a miniaturized TITAN. This system can survey confined areas, or those inaccessible by a typical vehicle. The focus with TITAN portable is quickly generating detailed and useable models of the area being surveyed. The integrated digital cameras result in colorized 3-D point clouds useable for security purposes in their native form.
Miniaturizing the system components to a solution weighing 40 pounds or less opens up the opportunity of having a system carried in a backpack, or mounted on a small battlefield robot. The robot carrier will provide access to dangerous areas needing to be scanned without human risk. The backpack version will provide rapid collection of security perimeter data and other site specific information where vehicle access is not possible. TITAN Portable also has a high level of utility for public safety and security applications in the civilian sector.
