Terrapoint
Terrapoint
Terrapoint provides many cost-effective and quality solutions to meet your geo-spatial information needs. We combine intimate knowledge of LiDAR technology with a unique focus on customer satisfaction to address a broad marketplace. Terrapoint’s operational flexibility—with multiple collection platforms (fixed wing, rotary and vehicular)—offers data capture methods that our diverse customer base requires. Our state-of-the-art processing centers in Houston and Ottawa convert the data into the information needed to resolve the most demanding of geo-spatial requirements. Only Terrapoint personnel collect and process data; this exclusivity ensures the ultimate level of informational security.
No one in North America matches Terrapoints fleet of LiDAR systems. Combining our technology with some of the most LiDAR-savvy operators available equals the maximum in capacity and experience. Terrapoint’s fleet includes low and mid-range systems, Optech 3100EA systems and TITAN®, the firms vehicle-mounted system.
Energy, Oil & Gas
From Seismic to Drilling and other Downstream Applications
The oil and gas industry relies on time sensitive data relating to x, y, and z positions of terrain data for exploration programs. LiDAR surveys provide high-speed data acquisitions and limit ground intervention. In many instances, the time from field survey to final data product delivery can be accomplished within a few weeks, not months. All departments of the Oil and Gas company can make use of the rich data sets developed from LiDAR surveys.
Mining
From Exploration to Development
LiDAR has distinct advantages over traditional ground and airborne survey methods when evaluating the topography of open pits and mines. These include significantly denser data sampling resulting in more accurate volumetric models, speed of acquisition and processing, convenience and lower relative cost of the LiDAR survey.
Power
Terrapoint provides transmission structure location, conductor catenaries, and right of way data acquisition using LiDAR, geo-referenced digital still imaging and digital video for inspection problems and population of transmission GIS. Combining LiDAR and digital imaging allows clients to calculate power line heights, conductor sag under different loads, inventory, tower placement and height of underlying vegetation, and danger tree identification.
Flood Mapping
Planning Mitigation and Mediation Strategies
LiDAR surveys are one of the quickest and most accurate methods to produce an accurate DEM. Using the LiDAR derived DEM, hydrologists are able to predict flood extents and plan mitigation and remediation strategies.
Transportation
Engineering Design and Construction
Terrapoint’s surveys are ideally suited to the production of accurate elevation data for engineering projects, including highway and road construction projects. Our airborne LiDAR Digital Elevation Models (DEM) can be as accurate as 5 cm for hard surfaces. Using a Terrapoint DEM, cut and fill quantities can be estimated during the planning and estimating phase. The DEM can be used in conjunction with GIS and CAD systems to enable planners and engineers to model various scenarios choosing the best route or location for construction.
Library
“Why fly it? Just buy it!”
Terrapoint has developed an extensive LiDAR Digital Elevation Model (DEM) library that is available for resale. Purchasing existing library data enables significant savings in both cost and time to product delivery. Our library is constantly expanding with available data in Canada, the USA and select International areas.
