Terrapoint
Mining Applications – From Exploration to Development

LiDAR has distinct advantages over traditional aerial photography methods when evaluating the topography of open pits and mines.  These include significantly denser data sampling resulting in more accurate volumetric models, speed of acquisition and processing, convenience and lower relative cost of the LiDAR survey.

Traditional survey methods result in a small sampling of points.  Our LiDAR systems can acquire over 2,000,000 points per square kilometer.  The density of the LiDAR samples and resultant volume calculations easily meet and exceed requirements.

Most mining projects completed are geared towards feasibility studies, potential site development or volumetric analysis, however, additional uses include structural geology, geomorphology, run-off modeling, power line corridors and transportation access.  Orthophoto is also available to enhance your survey.

Deliverable Formats

LiDAR data is acquired, processed and delivered in digital format.  This makes it very easy to create data products that meet a wide range of needs.   Programs such as AutoCad, ArcView, ERDAS and others have the capability to import and export LiDAR data. Terrapoint also offers GIS training and consultations to assist companies integrate LiDAR data and solutions into their internal operations.
